geezer原指男人,在这里是当作对老人(通常是老男人)的戏谑称呼,没有特别的恶意.

Vera:Where did you go on New Year'sEve
Gary:Taipei 101 Tower, of course! Where else would I go The whole world was there!
Vera:Did you join the countdown and see thefireworks
Gary:Oh, yeah. The fireworks werefantastic! Over 600,000 people were there towitnessthe whole
thing.
Vera:I wonder how you people got in and out of that area.
Gary: With theMRT, things were much easier.
Vera:But I heard there were 1.6 millionpassengerstaking the MRT that night.
Gary:Yeah. Even though there was a train every three minutes, I had to miss three trains because
there simply wasn't any room! But it was well worth it. The countdown and fireworks were
something to write home about.
Vera:Maybe I should be there for the countdown next time.
Gary:You're most welcome.The more, the merrier. But it surely will be a long wait till next New
Year's Eve.
